Reverend Barnes continues to carry a passion for women’s ministry.  She remains involved in evangelism and assists with the Women’s Prayer Retreat, a non-denominational ministry which meets annually to provide opportunities for women to experience physical rest, mental transformation and spiritual rejuvenation.

​ Reverend Barnes carries a deep, non-compromising passion for the gospel. She is a gifted preacher/teacher, a compassionate pastor, a teen mentor, and intercessory prayer warrior.  She has an anointing to minister to people of all ages, from youth and young adults to the elderly.  Reverend Barnes is committed to helping people fulfill God’s destiny for their lives. 

Academically, Minister Barnes holds a B.S. in Special Education from Morris Brown College, a Masters of Business Administration from Nova University and a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary. 

Reverend Barnes stands boldly in the anointing of the Holy Spirit; and she is fully committed to proclaiming the truth of the Gospel. She is deeply inspired by the Word of God, in particular, Isaiah 6:8, “I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then said I, here am I; send me!”

Reverend Cheryl Barnes is a true woman of God who permits the grace of God to radiate throughout her life, and she is dedicated to serving God with humility, obedience and gratitude. She is the proud mother of two children, Desmond and Mielan.

​​Reverend Barnes began preaching as an evangelist during the late 90’s.  She has been blessed to minister for women’s conferences, church programs and church revivals. Minister Barnes was ordained as a ruling elder in 2009 at Sardis Presbyterian Church and served on session in 2010.  Minister Barnes was ordained and installed as Pastor at Sardis Presbyterian Church in 2012.  She is the first female pastor installed at Sardis in the church’s 125 year history.
